Accountants: How long did you have to study to pass the CPA exam?

  • How hard is it? Any advice?


  • I took the Becker class. I studied a moderate amount (1 to 2 hours a night) for the duration of the class (3 to 5 weeks, depending on the section), and then I studied really hard (pretty much all of my free time) for a week afterward. Then I went and took a section of the exam. I suppose it worked, because I passed all four sections on the first try. Using this method, it took about 8 months to pass all four sections.

    I would say it's a pretty hard test... not unbelievably hard, but it's going to take some effort to pass. I never could have done it without taking a prep course.
