Hello folks,decided to use this pic as my first post.Just recently bought a Canon 10d along with a 50mm f/1.8 lense

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on a good shot as your first post. It's a candid shot, so his head-down-but-eyes-up stance doesn't make me think 'semi-evil' at all.

Congrats too on the purchase of a nice new cam! I look forward to seeing more of your shots.

Interesting picture, not super flattering to little boy because of dark circles under his eyes. Semi-evil look and pose.

Nice-looking kid, perfect lens for portraits of nice-looking kids.
This is a nice-to-good start.

I did recrop it to a vertical portrait crop and try to lighten the dark spots a bit but its a nice portrait over all.
