  • 1) Why was the development of Cyanobacteria important to life on earth?

    2) What is a mycelium?

Please, not just copy and paste information from the internet, write it in your own words ,,, thank you :D

  • The importance of cyanobacteria is that the evolved on earth, before there was any oxygen in the atmosphere. They were able to convert carbon dioxide and water to sugar, and excreted oxygen as a by-product. There is good evidence to suggest that most of the earth's oxygen was produced by cyanobactra. No animal life would have been able to exist, were it not for the cyanobacteria.
Look up 'banded iron formation' in Wikipedia, for a good discussion of how this came about.

  • well, sounds like someone didnt do their biology homework,

many biologists beleive that cyanobacteria was actually eaten by eukaryote cells through endomytosis and the cell did not actually digest it for nuritionment, they actually kept it alive and uses its chlorophyll to make energy by the sun. this is beleived how some bacteria can actually photosynthesize. the cyanobacteria formed into an organelle of the critter throught time.

if i remeber correctly mycelium i the branching off part of a fungus, it is used to secrete digestive enzymes and absorbs it, fungus actually are the only organism that grows towards it's food supply.
    hope this helps
